Season to Taste

Recipes That Get Better Every Time You Cook

Keep every recipe you trust in one versioned library, work on them with an AI cooking partner that only ever proposes, remember who likes what at your table, and turn the week's plan into a grocery list on your phone.

Free to use. Your recipes stay on your own machine.

Season app, recipe library

Everything a Home Cook Actually Needs

Season is a desktop app for the person who cooks for the household and does the shopping. It keeps your recipes, your people and your plans in one place on your own machine. The AI is there to help, runs under your own Claude login, and never changes anything without asking.

Import From Text

Paste a recipe from anywhere. A parser turns it into structured ingredients and steps, and the agent tidies it up when you have one configured. Ingredients are matched against a catalog, so units convert and duplicates merge later on.

Every Edit Is a Version

Changes never overwrite a recipe. Each one becomes a new version with a short summary of what changed and who changed it. Compare any two versions side by side and restore an old one whenever you like.

A Partner That Proposes

Chat about a recipe, a new idea, tonight's dinner or the household. The agent reads your library through the app's tools and suggests changes as proposals. Nothing is saved until you accept it.

Cook Log

Record what you cooked, how many servings, who ate and how they rated it. Notes like "too salty" or "needs more heat" stay attached to the exact version you made and can become the next one.

Know Your Table

Keep the likes, dislikes and hard restrictions of everyone you cook for, each with where it came from. Restrictions are respected every time, and you can read, edit or delete anything the app knows.

What Should I Cook?

Tell Season how much time you have, what you're in the mood for, who is eating and what needs using up. It ranks your own library to fit, shows why, and occasionally proposes something new.

Plan the Week

Lay out meals for the days ahead and get one grocery list with quantities scaled, converted and merged, grouped by aisle, plus a checklist of the staples that quietly run out.

Shop From Your Phone

The list goes to a phone page that works offline in the store. Tick items off, add what you remember on the way, and everything syncs back to the desktop.

Local-First, Backed Up

Your library lives on your computer and works without an internet connection. Encrypted backups are kept locally and, if you set up phone sync, on your own relay as well.

How It Works

Four steps from scattered recipes to a kitchen that remembers.

01

Bring In Your Recipes

Paste the recipes you already cook, or develop new ones in chat. Each one lands in your library as structured, versioned data.

02

Describe Your Household

Add the people you cook for and what they like, dislike or cannot eat. Suggestions and plans take it into account from then on.

03

Cook, Log, Improve

Log each time you cook with ratings and notes, then turn those notes into the next version of the recipe with the agent's help.

04

Plan and Shop

Plan the week, generate a merged grocery list, and take it to the store on your phone, even without a signal.

About the Author

Dominik Ficek, creator of Season

Dominik Ficek

I'm a software engineer working in technological R&D, and I cook for my household most days. The recipes I worked out together with an AI kept getting lost somewhere in old chats, and the weekly shopping list always missed something. Apps like Mealie and Tandoor handle a recipe library and a list well enough, but none of them helps a recipe get better from one dinner to the next. Season is built around exactly that loop.
